If you are into backpacking it’s easy to get excited about the possibility (dream) of a long hike. We all want to do the Appalachian Trail thru hike!
But the reality of life is, most us don’t have the time or resources for a 2,181-mile hike. If we are honest, we struggle to put a Saturday and Sunday back to back.
It’s easy to adopt the mindset that if we can’t hike 40 miles it is not worth getting our packs out. When we do so, we miss some great opportunities. Don’t underestimate the value of a day hike.
